Gary Woodland takes a three-shot lead into the weekend at the Texas Children's Houston Open at Memorial Park GC.

Woodland, 41, carded a brilliant 7-under 63 in Friday's second round to vault to 13-under par for 36 holes.

The American leads by three shots over his compatriot Jackson Suber, who matched his 63, and Denmark's Nicolai Hojgaard, who went even lower with an impressive 62 that featured four straight birdies to close out the round.

Defending champion Min Woo Lee and his Australian compatriot Jason Day also went round in 63s to round out the top five on 9-under par.

Woodland is going in search of a fifth career title on the PGA Tour and his first since the 2019 US Open at Pebble Beach.

In August 2023, Woodland told the public he had been diagnosed with a brain lesion, and he underwent lengthy brain surgery on 18 September 2023. In February 2025, he was then was awarded the PGA Tour Courage Award.

Of the big names to miss the cut, there were none more notable than five-time major champion Brooks Koepka.

Koepka, who helped with the recent redesign of Memorial Park GC, carded an improved 69 on Friday but the damage had already been done on Thursday with a 75.

The former World No.1 ended the week 4-over par and six shots outside the cutline of 2-under par.

The PGA Tour is sending players out in groups of three for the third round, with everyone teeing off the par-4 1st.
