Tiger Woods has been released from jail after a shock DUI arrest following a rollover crash near his home on Jupiter Island, Florida.

A series of photographs and videos have surfaced on social media (see below) of Woods being escorted out of Martin County Sheriff's Office jail facility in a car shortly before midnight.

Woods has been released on bail after being charged with driving under the influence following his involvement in a two-vehicle car crash in Florida.

The 50-year-old golf legend faces multiple misdemeanor charges, including DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test, after the incident on Friday afternoon.

Woods was arrested at around 2 p.m. ET after his Range Rover overturned while overtaking a work truck at high speed on a road with a 30 mph limit.

According to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek, Woods clipped the trailer being towed by the truck, causing his vehicle to roll onto its driver’s side.

Despite the severity of the crash, neither Woods nor the truck driver was injured. The 15-time major champion managed to crawl out of the passenger side of his damaged vehicle before emergency services arrived.

Authorities said Woods appeared impaired at the scene.

“Our DUI investigators came to the scene and Mr Woods did exemplify signs of impairment,” Budensiek said. “They did some in-depth roadside tests and when it was determined, he was placed under arrest and taken to the Martin County Jail.”

A breathalyser test ruled out alcohol, leading investigators to suspect impairment from medication or other substances.

Budensiek added that Woods cooperated with the breath test but refused a urine test — a decision that carries a separate charge under Florida law.

“They believe it was some kind of medication or drugs,” Budensiek said.

Images released after the crash showed Woods in golf attire, standing near his heavily damaged vehicle while speaking on the phone.

His mugshot, published later that evening, showed him wearing a light blue Sun Day Red shirt, with bloodshot eyes.

Woods was held for the mandatory detention period before being released at approximately 11:15 p.m. ET from the Martin County Jail in Stuart.

The incident occurred just three miles from Woods’ home and adds to a troubling history of vehicle-related incidents.

Woods was previously arrested for DUI in 2017 in Jupiter, Florida, later pleading guilty to reckless driving after a toxicology report revealed multiple prescription drugs in his system. In 2021, he suffered serious leg injuries in a high-speed rollover crash in Los Angeles, though no charges were filed.

An earlier crash in 2009 — in which Woods struck a fire hydrant, hedges and a tree outside his home — led to intense media scrutiny, the breakdown of his marriage to Elin Nordegren, and the loss of several major sponsorship deals.

Woods’ long list of injuries, including multiple back surgeries, ACL reconstruction and Achilles tendon problems, has severely limited his playing schedule in recent years. He has not competed on the PGA Tour since missing the cut at The Open in July 2024.

He did, however, return to action earlier this week at the TGL final, where he said he was doing everything possible to be fit for The Masters at Augusta National in two weeks’ time. While Woods confirmed he expects to attend, he stopped short of guaranteeing he will tee it up when the tournament begins on 9 April.

The latest incident is now under investigation.
