Payne has jumped onto Scheffler's bag for the final 18 holes in Memphis after his normal caddie Ted Scott was forced to return home to deal with a privae family matter, according to Golf Channel's Todd Lewis.

Payne travelled over from Dallas, Texas, on Saturday night after a receiving a call from Scheffler to notify him of the situation.

A number of top PGA Tour caddies who weren't in the FedEx St Jude Championship are said to have all contacted Scheffler's team to offer their services once learning about Scott's sudden departure.

Scheffler is going in search of a fifth win of the season and the 18th of his career on the PGA Tour.

He is a clear leader in the FedEx Cup race as it stands.

Scheffler is looking to become the first player ever to successfully defend the FedEx Cup this month.
