Rory McIlroy approves after being brutally heckled by unruly golf fan at Ryder Cup
Ryder Cup 2025: Rory McIlroy gets mocked by rowdy American golf fan - but it actually goes down quite well on Team Europe.
Rory McIlroy gave his approval after being brutally heckled by an unruly American fan in the crowd during his final practice round at the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage on Thursday.
The heckle was so good that even European Ryder Cup teammates Tyrrell Hatton and Shane Lowry turned around to congratulate the comment.
As we join the video, which has since gone viral on social media, we see McIlroy fiddling around with the button on his shirt.
Then in came the rowdy fan.
"You don't need a button to choke, Rory..." the man yelled out to cries of laughter in the gallery.

Thursday marked the final practice rounds for the 24 players in action at the Ryder Cup this week.
It was also a day where the Friday foursomes matches were revealed by captains Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald.
McIlroy has been sent out with Tommy Fleetwood just like in Rome in 2023.
The British duo will face off against Collin Morikawa and Harris English.

McIlroy has a chance to move above two golf legends on the all-time European points list this weekend.
During his Thursday press conference, McIlroy claimed how an emotional call with late great Seve Ballesteros completely changed his outlook on the Ryder Cup, something he once labelled as an exhibition in his younger days on Tour.
