Lucas Glover admits he has been told by a number of people in the United States Ryder Cup team that the locker room was "splintered" at Marco Simone.

Glover, 43, rallied late to try and earn one of Zach Johnson's six picks in the team by winning back-to-back events on the PGA Tour at the Wyndham Championship and the FedEx St Jude Championship.

Unfortunately for him though, it was too little too late... and not being in the boys club.

The USA went on to lose by five points at the hands of Luke Donald's Europe in Rome.

Controversy surrounded the American camp leading into the first day as Sky Sports' Jamie Weir broke a story about Patrick Cantlay not wearing a team cap over a dispute about not being directly paid.

Weir's report revealed the team room was "fracturered" as a result of conversations playing out during the week.

Cantlay and several others in the team room hit back at the report to claim any talk of a disgruntled team room was false.

But Glover, speaking to SiriusXM PGA Tour, has since confirmed others in the team room have revealed the initial story to him.

It breaks his heart to hear, too.

LISTEN TO GLOVER'S COMMENTS

Glover said:

"It's easy to say three weeks after they unfortunately lost, but yeah, I would have liked to have been there. I think I could have brought some different things to the table. But it broke my heart the week after to hear about how splintered the room was and the things about money and different things, that's not at all what the Ryder Cup stands for. I'm not just going on what I've read and been told, I've talked to some people that were there in the fight and it breaks my heart to hear that. That's not what it's about, it's not what it stands for and it's not why I want to play in that team."
