PGA of America name 2029 Ryder Cup championship director: "The opportunity of a lifetime"
Laura Frick will lead preparations for the 2029 contest at Hazeltine National Golf Club.
The PGA of America have announced Laura Frick will be the championship director of the 2029 Ryder Cup.
Frick will oversee on-site operations for the biennial contest between the United States and Europe, which will return to Hazeltine for the first time since 2016.
The appointment marks another significant milestone in Frick’s career after she became the first female PGA of America Golf professional to serve as championship director at the 2026 KPMG Women's PGA Championship, which was also held at the Minnesota venue.
"I'm proud of the dedication it took to get here and I'm so thankful for the network of people who guided and supported me along the way," Frick told the official PGA website.
She added: "It's truly a job that I will look forward to waking up for every day.”
Frick joined the PGA of America after graduating from Ferris State University in 2015, having studied on its PGA Golf Management programme.
She initially worked in the organisation's player engagement and member championships departments before becoming director of competitions in December 2021.
In that position, she led national events including the PGA Jr. League Championships and managed programmes designed to increase participation in the sport.
Her experience coordinating major events, working with stakeholders and overseeing tournament operations is expected to be central to preparations for the 2029 Ryder Cup.
Hazeltine has an established history of hosting elite golf, having staged the Ryder Cup in 2016, when the United States defeated Europe 17-11 to reclaim the trophy after three consecutive European victories.
Hazeltine will become the first American course to host the Ryder Cup twice when the competition returns in 2029.
The event will follow the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland, as the United States and Europe continue their long-running contest.
Europe will be attempting to win the Ryder Cup three times in a row for the first time since 2014.
Frick's appointment builds on her role at the 2026 KPMG Women's PGA Championship and places her at the centre of preparations for one of the biggest events on the international golf calendar.
