Rory McIlroy has revealed what Tiger Woods told him after he completed the career grand slam at the 2025 Masters.

McIlroy needed a playoff to defeat England's Justin Rose at Augusta National last month to earn his first green jacket.

The Northern Irishman previously revealed in the Netflix documentary Full Swing that 15-time major champion Woods, 49, is 'always the first' to send congratulatory text messages.

McIlroy explained during a recent appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that Woods only needed five words. And it was profound.

"Welcome to the club, kid."

McIlroy, who was wearing his new green jacket on the chat show, also revealed that Sir Elton John's assistant left him a voicemail.

"Six people ever have achieved the grand slam in golf," McIlroy said.

"Only four of us are living. You know, Gary Player is 90 years old, Jack is 85 or 86, then there's Tiger and myself. It's really cool to be a part of."

McIlroy added: "I was sort of overwhelmed with the people who reached out from all different walks of life, you know, culture, entertainment.

"But the one that got me was Sir Elton John. That was incredible. I haven't actually been able to connect with him.

"His assistant left me a voicemail and said, 'Sir Elton would love to congratulate you in person'.

"The only problem is he doesn't have a cell phone, so you might get a call from a number in Windsor, England, from a landline,' and I'm like 'Sure!'

"But we haven't been able to connect, so I would love to reach out. But it's Elton John, it's so cool. I didn't know Elton John even knew what golf was.

"It's awesome and I've been super humbled by the number of people who have reached out. It’s been really cool."

McIlroy's victory at Augusta was watched in person by his wife Erica and four-year-old daughter Poppy.

His parents Rosie and Gerry were back home in Northern Ireland because they were in the process of moving house

"They said it was a good thing," McIlroy previously said.

"They were glad they had something to do to take their mind off what was happening at The Masters."

Before the major began, Poppy drained a monster putt at the annual Par-3 Contest.

McIlroy told Fallon she wasn't anticipating the roar from the patrons and got a bit teary.

When she got back to the clubhouse she wanted to see the highlights.

McIlroy said: "She looked and me and said, 'It's okay dad, I don't think they caught me crying."

The Masters champ is currently taking a brief break from golf.

Next up on his schedule is the Truist Championship.

Meanwhile, he has also confirmed that he will play the Scottish Open as part of his prep for The Open at Royal Portrush.
