If you like bunched leaderboards heading into the weekend of a major golf tournament, you're in luck at the 2026 PGA Championship.

Everyone who made the cut at Aronimink still has a realistic chance of etching their name on the famous Wanamaker Trophy this Sunday.

Maverick McNealy and Alex Smalley lead the way after 36 holes at the PGA Championship.

The American duo find themselves out in front on four-under par entering the weekend of golf's second major of the season.

Both players are looking to land a first career major title.

Former Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama, Min Woo Lee, Chris Gotterup, Stephan Jaeger, Aldrich Potgieter and Max Greyserman are then in a logjam tie for second on three-under par.

A host of big names are tucked a further shot behind on two-under par, including world number one and defending champion Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Young, Justin Thomas, Ludvig Aberg, Si Woo Kim, Harris English and David Puig.

Scheffler is looking to become the first player since Brooks Koepka in 2019 to successfully defend the Wanamaker Trophy, while Thomas is looking to win the PGA Championship for the third time in his career.

Elsewhere, Rory McIlroy performed much better with a Friday 67 to progress to one-over par and make it safely through to the weekend.

"Everyone who makes the cut is going to feel like they are right in this golf tournament," McIlroy told ESPN after the second round.

Justin Rose chipped in for eagle on his final hole, the par-5 ninth, to make the cut on the number at three-over par.

The halfway cut fell at four-over par, and it saw a number of big names pack their bags out of Pennsylvania.

Bryson DeChambeau was the standout name to miss the cut on seven-over par.

Other notables missing the cut included Tommy Fleetwood, Russell Henley, Robert MacIntyre, JJ Spaun and Tyrrell Hatton.

PGA club pro Michael Block also missed out, but he is adamant he will return to the PGA Championship.

South Africa's Garrick Higgo was left to rue his costly two-shot penalty for being late on the tee in the first round as he missed the cut by one.

A total of 82 players made the cut.
