One of the biggest golf centres in the city, if not the biggest, Braid Hills boasts 42 floodlit bays - 30 of which are covered - as well as a short game area with seven practice bunkers and three putting greens. Trackman technology has recently been installed in the range as well, opening up elite data insights for all visitors looking to take charge of their game.

Melville Golf Centre
Location: Lasswade, Midlothian EH18
Price: from £5/50 balls
The perfect place to drop in for some varied practice, Melville is a floodlit Trackman-equipped range with 22 regular covered bays and 12 Powertee bays. There are eight heated bays for those cold evenings and there is also a short game area comprising a putting green, as well as a 9-hole pay and play course that you can jump on for a pittance.

Swanston Golf Club
Location: 111 Swanston Rd, Edinburgh EH10
Swanston is located at the top of Pentland Hills Regional Park, to the south of Edinburgh. Its 350-yard range is home to 20 uncovered bays alongside a covered golf academy with grass tees, a fitting studio and the adjoining Templar par 3 practice course, which alongside the full-sized Swanston course make Swanston one of the city's most comprehensive practice facilities.

Kings Acre Golf Course

Kings Acre has a great 30-bay covered range with 18 holes, greens and, uniquely, a selection of water hazards and bunkers to look out for. Laser-accurate distance markers are also dotted about to help you get to grips with your yardages.

Dalmahoy Golf & Country Club
Location: Kirknewton, EH27
Dalmahoy is one of the city's ritzier golfing destinations and the host of a Solheim Cup among other big tournaments, but has done well to open its practice facilities to the wider public so anyone can drop in and work on their game. Dalmahoy's 12-bay driving range is complemented by a nine-hole pitch and putt as well as a short game area and putting green.
