8. Robin Hood Golf Club

Robin Hood was designed by Harry Colt but has since been redeveloped, meaning it now plays 6,517 yards off the white tees. Dr. Frank Stableford was a member of the club, which is conveniently located just a few miles from both the M42 and the city centre. However, at £45 for a round, Robin Hood himself may not have approved.

Closest station: Hall Green/Yardley Wood

9. Handsworth Golf Club

Handsworth, founded in 1895, is another club that is easy to get to for those living in the city centre, and it's also well serviced by Hamstead rail station and the M5. Although the standard summer rate is £50 per day, that figure is halved if you play after 2pm on a Sunday.
