Wyndham Clark won the 2023 US Open - but some golf fans are convinced the rightful champion should be Rory McIlroy

Some eagle-eyed viewers who stayed up to watch the finale at Los Angeles Country Club have accused Clark of causing his ball to move.

The footage was clipped and re-shared online and it shows Clark trying to decide which club to use on a greenside chip as he was playing the back nine.

Golf fans were quick to condemn Clark.

Comments included:

"This is the Patrick Reed special right here."
"Please investigate @USGA."
"I can't believe no one is talking about this! This is Patrick Reed at the Hero World Challenge all over again. SAD!"
"Seems like the logo changed position."
"Should be thrown out of the game."
"Look at the blades of grass before and then after he grounds the club. They aren't the same. The ball moved as he improved his lie."
"We need to talk about this! If you're not going to assess the rules then what are the rules for? Clark grounded his club and the ball moved which is a stroke. If he signs that card without that stroke he needs to be disqualified immediately."

Clark went on to win the third major of the year by one stroke, meaning that McIlroy's wait to end his nine-year drought drags on.

McIlroy was of course bitterly disappointed but later said he would endure 'another 100 Sundays like this' to win another major.
