A new golf site aims to help you find a golfing partner no matter where in the world you want to play

A recent survey revealed that one of the main reasons why more people don’t take up golf is because they have no one to play with.

As a member of a course or club or with inter-personal skills enabling you to approach perfect strangers, it’s not a problem most of us face.

But imagine if you’re desperate to play ... prepared to pay your green fee but have no one to share the fun of a round on a testing course...and you're too shy to find a partner.

If you're travelling on holiday or business you might well just give up, though if you're looking in the UK then you need look no further than the GOLFmagic forum.

However, Simon Greenland believes he’s come up with the answer to the 'no mates' syndrome – a website aimed at golf’s lost souls.

His anyoneforegolf.com site, he says, has already attracted several hundred members since its launch on the first day of the 2003 Open Championship.

He adds: "If you’ve spent hours mastering the game only to find that to improve you really need a bigger reservoir of potential partners than Jim from the office (whom you can beat hands down) you need to start looking for some new challenges.

"Perhaps your job involves global travel and you'd like to be able to find a partner anywhere in the world or maybe you're a keen golfer away with the family on holiday but itching to escape and get out play 18 holes."

He reckons his website is the place to look. To register is free but if you want to be put in touch with your ‘best matches’ – the charge is £12.

Sounds like while looking for a game of golf you could
get more than you bargained for!
