Enjoy Alderney in September

Alderney, the third largest of the Channel Islands, is offering a three-day getaway for golfers aged 50 and over to compete in the Braye Beach Hotel-sponsored Senior Open from September 7 to 9.

With its balmy temperatures, spectacular coastline and white sandy beaches, Alderney has been attracting holiday golfers for decades but this event offers an opprtunity for golfers from the mainland to sample its unique appeal.

Alderney Golf Club is a 9-hole course set in a dramatic clifftop location where tight fairways and sea breezes offer a challenge from 18 separate tees, even for the low handicapper.

The 36-hole tournament - £45 for overseas visitors - is preceded by a courtesy 18 holes where visitors can get their bearings and meet their friendly hosts, while competing in three age categories: 50-60, 60-70, and over 71s - as well as an overall competition.

Hosting the event is the elegantly furnished four-star Braye Beach Hotel nearby - with its private cinema - offering three-night B&B accommodation packages, including return flights from Southampton, from £268.
