Tiger Woods has shared an encouraging update on his latest golf course design, revealing the highly anticipated Legacy Course at Diamante Cabo San Lucas has reached its grassing-in phase ahead of its planned opening in early 2027.

The 15-time major champion gave fans a first official look at the oceanfront layout in Mexico by posting a series of images on Instagram, where he reflected on the years spent bringing the ambitious project to life.

"I'm pleased to share a first early look at Legacy Course, our newest course design at Diamante.

"Cabo is a special place and working alongside Ken Jowdy and the Diamante team over the years has been especially rewarding.

"Legacy Course was designed to challenge golfers of every skill level while creating an experience they’ll remember long after the round.

"From the routing to the strategy and the natural landscape, every detail was carefully considered.

"I’m proud of what we’ve created together and can’t wait for golfers to experience it in the near future."

The Legacy Course is the newest addition to the 1,500-acre Diamante Cabo San Lucas development and has been designed by Woods' TGR Design team as an "oasis in the desert".

Alongside the championship course, the project will also feature custom residences, villas and condominiums.

Diamante founder and CEO Ken Jowdy believes the development will offer one of the most exclusive golf experiences in North America.

"By bringing together an exclusive Tiger Woods-designed course and a truly limited membership, we are creating the most intimate, personalized golf experience at the highest level in Cabo," said Jowdy.

"Nowhere else in North America can a member play a world top 100-ranked course, watch PGA Tour professionals compete on their home grounds, and do it all within a private oceanfront residential community."

According to Forbes, Legacy Club membership is expected to cost an initial $300,000 (£223,000), while annual dues are reported to be around $60,000 (£44,000).

The project also marks a significant milestone for Woods, with this year representing the 10th anniversary of TGR Design.

The company continues to expand its portfolio and recently announced plans to build a new championship course at Tributer Resort in Virginia.

While Woods remains sidelined from competitive golf, he continues to focus on his growing course design business.

The 50-year-old will miss next week's Open Championship and has not competed on the PGA Tour since The Open at Royal Troon in 2024.

Earlier this year, Woods confirmed he would be taking more time away from the sport following his car crash and subsequent DUI arrest in Florida at the end of March.

He was later granted permission to travel overseas for comprehensive inpatient treatment before returning to Florida, where he recently made a public appearance ahead of the PGA Tour's announcement of schedule changes due to come into effect in 2028.

There is still no timetable for Woods' return to competitive golf, but his latest update highlights the continued progress being made on one of the most ambitious projects of his course design career.
