YouTube golf stars Good Good and Callaway are facing heavy criticism after releasing a driver advert featuring a woman being barged to the ground.

Titled "THE DRIVER", the 15-second clip was published on 21 August and starred Good Good member Garrett Clark, better known as gmgolf, and fellow content creator Alexis Miestowski.

In the advert, Miestowski - who is also a member of Good Good Girls - reaches for the club before Clark makes a bee line towards her and barges her to the ground.

He then warns: "Do not touch my new driver."

The advert clearly wasn't meant to make light of violence towards women.

And it may have been intended as a tongue-in-cheek spoof of Reebok's famous 2003 Super Bowl commercial, in which actor Lester Speight played intimidating NFL linebacker Terry Tate.

In that ad, Tate tackled office workers for breaking company rules.

However, the response to Good Good's advert has been almost overwhelmingly negative, with users on X questioning how the campaign was approved in the first place.

The advert has since been deleted from Good Good's social media channels, although a copy has been reposted by X user @SkulledWedge.

Good Good and Callaway are yet to comment.

Callaway didn't release the ad itself.

The OEM partnered with Good Good in 2023.

Skratch's Claire Rogers was among those to condemn the "scary" ad.

"Not to make it into this Big Thing," she wrote. "But what on earth are young girls supposed to think when they see something like this?"

Another added: "I'm stunned that somebody thought this was a great campaign idea."

This user wrote: "Wildly tone-deaf."
