Pablo Larrazabal claims EIGHTH DP World Tour win two weeks before turning 40

Pablo Larrazabal received arguably the best early 40th birthday present possible Sunday in Incheon for the DP World Tour's Korea Championship.

The DP World Tour was playing at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon this week and Larrazabal was one-stroke back of Robert MacIntyre heading into the final round.

MacIntyre, 26, was looking for his third DP World Tour win after rounds of 69, 70, and 69.

Behind him was fellow Scotsman Scott Jamieson, Larrazabal, and South Korea's own Sanghyun Park.

And while MacIntyre couldn't get anything going on Sunday, shooting an even-par 72, Larrazabal went on a back-nine birdie streak to earn his eighth DP World Tour win just a few weeks before he turns 40.

He told the DP World Tour following his victory:

"It’s amazing. In two weeks I’m turning 40. I’m not a long hitter. To play against all these 20-year-old guys now that hit the ball 40 yards over me, and to beat them is unbelievable.
"To do it here in Korea, where we have not come for ten years and where I love to play. Now it’s one of my favourite places in the world.
"I will be back to Korea to defend this title and hopefully many more times."

The Spaniard shot a final-round 5-under par 67 to win the tournament by two strokes over Marcus Helligkilde.

Fellow Spaniard Jorge Campillo finished tied for third alongside Jamieson, Park, and Joost Luiten. MacIntyre fell back into a tie for seventh, four strokes back.

The total prize fund for the tournament was $2,000,000 with 2,750 Race to Dubai Ranking points up for grabs.

Next week, the DP World Tour heads to Marco Simone Golf Club in Rome for the Italian Open. Marco Simone is also the site of this fall's Ryder Cup
