Summary: Benross Hot Speed 2 incorporates all the features and benefits normally associated in a set of Tour irons, yet is what the company claims its ultimate game improver iron for 2014. Black PVD finish, perimeter weighting and a deep cavity back with a slightly offset hose and MOI stability weighting.
Appearance: Nice black PVD finish is appealing on first look and it reduces glare at address. More of a player iron look to it rather than a game improver but there is a big hitting area to it and ideal alignment aid with horizontal and vertical white lines. 3.5 (out of 5)
Feel: The weight of this iron combined with Dynamic Gold Lite shaft felt great in the hands and the standard Concept 10 Tour Traction grip also felt comfortable. Some testers experienced a harder, harsher feel on shots. Not the most rewarding feel at impact and we didn't like the sound of it. Not great for feedback on off-centre hits. 6 (out of 10)
Performance: For both Kelvin and Dave, the higher handicappers in this test, the Benross Hot Speed 2 proved a tougher club to hit purely in comparison to the others. Easy enough to hit accurately but the spin rates were a little down across the board. Solid enough distance but again, not as strong as others for irons in the under £400 category. 6.5 (out of 10)

Verdict: Benross' strategy is to bring top quality golf equipment into a price range that will make it available to every golfer and the Hot Speed 2 does just that. With no PGA Tour or European Tour presence, they're able to sell a set of sticks for little more than £300. We wouldn't put anyone off these game improver irons as they do represent good value for money, but pitting them up against some of the others in here when it comes to feel and performance, we'd rather look elsewhere. 16 (out of 25)
