Jon Rahm put the new Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond driver into play at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and his new weapon helped him win for the third time in his last six starts.

Jon Rahm: What's in the bag of the EIGHT-TIME PGA Tour winner?

Jon Rahm started 2023 in the perfect way by winning the Sentry Tournament of Champions, coming from seven shots behind to beat Collin Morikawa by two shots in Hawaii.

Rahm came alive on the back nine with four birdies and an eagle to reach 27-under, which was too low for Morikawa to go once the American reached the 18th fairway.

It is only the eighth time that a player on the PGA Tour has held a six-shot lead after 54 holes and lost. The 25-year-old made critical bogeys on holes 14, 15 and 16 to fall back to 24-under.

Morikawa admitted such a crushing victory will hurt. His putter had been on fire having hired new short game coaches in Stephen Sweeney and Parker McLachlin, but Rahm's eagle on the par-5 15th hole piled the pressure on which he appeared to wilt under.

The Spaniard has now won three times in his last six starts and become an eight-time winner on the PGA Tour. He also banked $2.7 million in Maui at the first Elevated Event of the new revamped schedule

He believes he has been the best player in the world since August, but he remains fifth in the Official World Golf Rankings despite his scintillating form.

Rahm came second in Kapalua behind Cameron Smith 12 months ago and he also finished second to Dustin Johnson in 2018. Three players who have certainly taken different career paths since the start of 2022.

Callaway will certainly be excited about Rahm's success. The 28-year-old had the new Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond driver in play, as well as the Triple Diamond 3-wood and 5-wood.
