adidas's latest ambassador is one of the game's underrated style icons
The three stripes are partnering with the family of the late, great Forrest Fezler to ring in PGA Championship weekend.

A couple of days ago, adidas Golf announced a new entry to their roster of apparel ambassadors. They teased his last name began with an 'F', and that he'd finished second at a US Open.
As it turns out, the player in question was not Tommy Fleetwood as many had guessed. Rather, the three stripes is using PGA Championship week to honour a player who has gone down as one of the game's sartorial legends: Forrest Fezler.
Those familiar with Fezler may know him for his second-place finish at the 1974 US Open, but it was his defiant choice of clothing at the same tournament ten years later that has earned him a place in the history books.
Prior to teeing off on the 72nd hole at the 1983 US Open, the American stepped into a port-a-loo and emerged wearing – horror of horrors – a pair of shorts, before leaving the course. The act served two functions, giving his pins some much needed ventilation, and flipping a not-so-subtle bird at the rule-setters of the USGA.
Shorts remain banned in official tournament play to this day, and as such Fezler remains the only person to ever don a pair of shorts during an official PGA Tour round.
adidas's decision to partner with Fezler's family comes just in time to celebrate the release of the brand's Ultimate365+ short, which has been refreshed with even more groundbreaking tech for the 2026 season.
Building upon the formula of the short that changed golf shorts back in 2015, the latest Ultimate365+ short features a unique TwistKnit fabric for breathability, flexibility and comfort, as well as a unique inner waistband material, inspired by Gecko toes, that grip the shirt and prevent it from coming untucked through the swing.
In celebration of the new deal, adidas have erected a playful statue in downtown Philadelphia this PGA Tour weekend, adorned in a pair of the new Ultimate 365+ shorts and rendered wearing the brand's new MC70 golf shoes.
adidas athletes at this weekend's PGA Championship will also wear a special-edition patch, recognizing Fezler’s impact on the game, and will pay homage to Fezler by wearing shorts during the tournament's practice rounds on Monday to Wednesday.
