Collin Morikawa confirms another equipment switch ahead of the 2026 season
The US Ryder Cup star took to Instagram to confirm he's jumping on a huge equipment trend for the 2026 season.

While he hasn't had a terrible year by any stretch, making the cut in three of four majors, Collin Morikawa has been actively tweaking his set-up in a quest to regain the white-hot form he boasted in his first couple of years as a professional.
In addition to tweaking his irons, Morikawa has spent 2025 tinkering with multiple putter options after a downturn in his form with the flat stick. The American even described himself as “putting like a blind man” after a poor round on the greens to open the Rocket Classic.
Now, in a new Instagram video, Morikawa has confirmed his switch into into a fourth putter of the year so far, jumping on the zero torque bandwagon in the process.
"Dear Santa. First on my Christmas list is to make more putts," he wrote in the caption. "This is the (new) putter I’m currently gaming. Whether it’s in the form of a putter, no 3 putts or some lucky breaks on the greens, truthfully, I’ll take any. More to come on the wishlist…"

The putter in question is the TaylorMade Spider 5K ZT: a zero-torque variant of the Spider Tour putter popularised the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood. Recognisable for its distinctive electric blue colour scheme, the Spider ZT is, like most zero torque putters centre-shafted to reduce twisting throughout the putting stroke and help the player deliver a square face every putt.
The Spider 5K ZT replaces Morikawa's most recent putter, a centre-shafted version of the TaylorMade Spider Tour V. He used a TaylorMade TP Soto to start the year, and also experimented with both an L-Neck version of the Spider Tour V and a Logan Olson Blade-Style in an effort to find the right set-up to suit his eye.
Whatever Morikawa lands on, it can only be upwards from here with the Putter for the American. He finished 156th in Strokes Gained: Putting on the PGA Tour and 160th in Total Putting. Given he still managed to claim two runner-up finishes for the year, it's fair to say that if he does figure it out on the greens, it'll go a long way towards returning him to the winner's circle.
