The old adage goes that shoes maketh the man, but does that still ring true for golfers?

Apparently so, as the world's best players are notoriously picky about what they lace up onto their feet when taking to the course.

Only the best golf shoes will do for the world's best players, as the key conduit between themselves and the ground. However over the years the segment has grown to encompass a huge range of shapes and styles, from traditionalist models like the FootJoy Premiere to more modern, sporty shoes from the likes of Nike and adidas.

While there are countless shoe brands out there all making high-quality golf shoes, just a select few can boast of being worn by the world's very best players. Which got us thinking, what are the current world top 10 rocking right now?

Read on to find out.

1. Scottie Scheffler: Nike Victory Pro 4

Scottie Scheffler now sits among the crowning trio of all-time Nike Golf Athletes, joining the likes of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy in accomplishing the game's greatest feets with the Swoosh on his chest.

Nike's flagship shoe model and Scheffler's preferred model, the Victory Pro 4 has an athletic silhouette that looks sporty without coming across overly casual, making it a great choice for players who want a simple, refined aesthetic in their shoes.

Built to provide the comfort and stability demanded of the world's best golfer, the Victory Pro 4 packs plenty of tech underneath its unassuming exterior. A comfortable Cushlon foam midsole sits on top of a specially-designed platform called a Fly Wing, providing a wall to push against in your downswing for speed and stability through your finish.

2. Rory McIlroy: Nike Victory Pro 4

Only Tiger Woods really matches Rory in terms of the impact he's had as a Nike Golf athlete. With their partnership spanning almost two decades, the Northern Irishman is as synonymous with the brand as any player alive.

Up until recently, McIlroy mostly wore Nike's more traditionally-styled shoe, the Victory Tour 4. However he switched into the Victory Pro 4 ahead of this year's PGA Championship after suffering blistering issues. He's yet to switch back, indicating that the change may well be permanent.

3. Cameron Young: FootJoy Premiere

A long-term Titleist and FootJoy ambassador, Young has been perhaps the most in-form players of 2026 so far, bringing classic style to the course with his choice of Premiere golf shoes.

Freshly updated for 2026, the new Premiere retains the classic golf shoe look that keeps it the most popular style on tour each year, with subtle tweaks to the cushioning, interior padding and spiked traction pattern for even more comfort and grip.

4. Matt Fitzpatrick: Skechers Blade Tour

Matt Fitzpatrick signed a deal to become Skechers' key golf shoe ambassador a couple of years ago, and now routinely appears in commercials for the American brand.

The key USP of Skechers golf shoes is, of course, their slip-in design, which allows you to get them on and off without having to bend down to tie your laces while an adjustable lacing system retains optimal lockdown.

Fitzpatrick's chosen model, the Blade Tour, is the brand's most high-performance model, featuring lightweight Eco Flight cushioning, a supportive Arch Fit insole, and a responsive Hyper Burst Pro sock liner for incredible comfort and support.

5. Russell Henley: FootJoy Tour Alpha

Racing into the world's top 5 for the first time thanks to his win at the Charles Schwab Classic, Henley is now among the most elevated names on Titleist and FootJoy's staff team.

Henley remains loyal to FootJoy's older Tour Alpha model, which has a sporty design and provides complete control through the swing thanks to its Optimised Performance Stabiliser (OPS) System.

6. Justin Rose: PAYNTR X Tour Proto RS

PAYNTR is one of the biggest success stories in the apparel industry in recent years, having emerged from relative obscurity to secure high-profile endorsees like Min Woo Lee, Sam Burns and Jason Day, who went so far as becoming an investor in the company.

Perhaps the biggest testament to PAYNTR's reputation is the fact that Justin Rose, who's not contracted to the brand, chooses to wear PAYNTR's sporty X Tour Proto RS model, which has a carbon fibre PowerPlate for enhanced ground force transfer throughout the swing, as well as a bed of uber-comfy PMXFoam in the midsole.

A passionate trainer fan, Rose isn't afraid to dip into the catalogues of other brands from time to time, as evidenced at the 2026 U.S. Open where he wore Air Jordan 1 G golf sneakers across the weekend.

7. Tommy Fleetwood: Sun Day Red Presidio

Tommy Fleetwood has made plenty of headlines with his apparel choices throughout the opening stretch of the season, his contract with Nike having expired at the end of the 2025 season.

An enduring remnant of Fleetwood's time with Nike did remain, however, in his choice of footwear, as he wore Nike Victory Pro 4 shoes throughout the start of the 2026 season. However that changed at the Texas Open when he stepped out at TPC San Antonio debuting a new choice of footwear – an unreleased spiked variant of Sun Day Red's Presidio model. He's worn the model ever since, and doesn't seem intent on changing any time soon.

8. Wyndham Clark: FootJoy Premiere

The second appearance for the FootJoy Premiere on this list comes thanks to the newest entrant to the world's top 10, U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark. The American is a long-term wearer of the Premiere, and in his role as a shoe ambassador for the brand actively assists FootJoy in the development of the brand's new footwear.

9. Collin Morikawa: adidas Adizero ZG

Still hovering in the top 10 despite having just a solitary tour win in the last two years, Morikawa remains a beacon of consistency. One of adidas's headline tour players, his general choice of shoe is the ultra-lightweight Adizero ZG model: a shoe only available as a spikeless shoe to the general public but which Morikawa wears spiked.

The Adizero is adidas' most lightweight, responsive golf shoe, using LightStrike Pro foam derived from the brand's running shoes, along with a dynamic stability system for confident footing on greens and fairways.

10. Jon Rahm: Cuater The Ringer

Back in the world's top 10 for the first time since the end of 2024, Jon Rahm has had his struggles in the year's majors, but remains one of the most dominant forces on the LIV circuit.

The Spaniard's choice of footwear is less instantly recognisable than most on this list. A Callaway ambassador, Rahm previously wore shoes from American brand True Linkswear, but since switched into The Ringer model from Cuater, a premium footwear line produced by Callaway subsidiary TravisMathew. Interestingly, it no longer appears to be in production, as it was last released in 2022 and hasn't really been updated since.
