Matthieu Pavon secured his maiden PGA Tour title at the Famers Insurance Open in dramatic style with a birdie on the final hole.

France's Matthieu Pavon secured his maiden PGA Tour title at the Farmers Insurance Open, coming up clutch on the final hole to win by one shot.

One of 10 players to secure PGA Tour membership via the DP World Tour's Race to Dubai rankings in 2023, Pavon has taken full advantage of his time on the US Tour to secure his first victory and playing rights for the next two years.

Starting the day one shot back from overnight leader Stephen Jaeger, Pavon carded a final round 69 to finish the week 13-under par to finish one stroke clear of Denmark's Nicolai Hojgaard.

Competing against a stacked leaderboard featuring Ludvig Aberg, Tony Finau, and Xander Schauffele, Pavon held his nerve throughout the final round and relied on some late dramatics to get the job done.

Saving his best until last, the Frenchman executed arguably the shot of his career from the left rough on the 18th hole.

After being forced to lay up with his second shot on the par-5 finishing hole, Pavon managed to heroically stick his third to seven feet from the thick rough before holing a nerve-wracking seven-footer for birdie.

If claiming bragging rights on the PGA Tour wasn't sweet enough, Pavon also took home a whopping cheque worth $1,620,000, as well as earning a spot in this week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, one of the signature events on the PGA Tour this season.

Victory has also seen Pavon reach a career-best world ranking, jumping from 78th to 34th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
