Thorbjørn Olesen continues TaylorMade Qi10 dominance on DP World Tour

Thorbjørn Olesen claimed his eighth DP World Tour victory at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, making it three wins in a row on the DP World Tour for the new TaylorMade Qi10 series of drivers and fairways.

Olesen started the week with a 3-under 69 but lit up over rounds two and three, with a course-record equalling second round of a 10-under 62 and a 9-under 63 in round three.

The Dane finished with a solid 5-under 67 to claim a comfortable six-shot victory on 27-under par.

Olesen has switched into the brand new TaylorMade Qi10 LS Driver in 10.5 degrees this season.

TaylorMade claims Olesen likes to see loft on the driver and it combines best with the high launch and low spin offering of the TaylorMade TP5x ball.

Olesen started the final round with a four-stroke lead but by the time he was standing on the eighth tee he had been caught.

This was until he found the fairway with a 351-yard drive using his Qi10 LS driver, and hit his Qi10 5-wood to six feet making eagle for a three-shot swing.

Olesen never looked back from there.

He incredibly fired an astonishing 25 birdies and one eagle over the last 54 holes.

Olesen's total of 261 is the lowest total score of the season to date, with his score to par (27-under) also the lowest of the season by seven strokes.

His six-shot winning margin is also the biggest of the season so far.

Olesen has now won in three consecutive seasons and seven times out of eight when holding the 54-hole lead.

TaylorMade has now tasted success in the first three DP World Tour events of 2024.

Olesen's victory follows Tommy Fleetwood, who won the inaugural Dubai Invitational, and Rory McIlroy, who successfully defended the Dubai Desert Classic to become the first player to win the event four times.
