Rory McIlroy got golf fans' tongues wagging on Tuesday ahead of his first start in India.

The Masters champion received a warm welcome in Delhi ahead of the inaugural DP World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club and swiftly headed for the range.

Ahead of his practice round, the 36-year-old was spotted using a handy device that looks a bit like a melon with yellow sticks poking out of it.

You might have a few questions, so GolfMagic is here to explain what it is and why McIlroy uses it.

So what is it?

It's called The Connector from Sure Golf and it costs £75.

What does it do?

The training aid helps golfers improve their arm structure and feel a proper body connection throughout the swing.

Sure Golf also say it helps improve compression control.

How do I use it?

Put the ball between your forearms with the alignment rods on top and think about squeezing it as you make few half swings.

You should feel your upper body, core and lower body syncing up almost immediately.

As you get more comfortable, try making bigger swings.

Why is Rory McIlroy using it?

McIlroy used The Connector ahead of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth last month.

The DP World Tour's social media team caught McIlroy explaining his thoughts to his long-time coach Michael Bannon about how it helps him.

At the time, McIlroy was also seen using an aid called the 'G-Snap', which promotes better wrist position in the takeaway.

The 'G-Snap', McIlroy said, allows him to fully release the club and not miss miles left.

Over the last couple of years, McIlroy has spoken about how he routinely misses left, particularly with short irons.

It led to McIlroy seeking the help of legendary coach Butch Harmon ahead of the 2024 Masters.
