The unique tweak on Matt Fitzpatrick's new putter at The Open
The Englishman has a (sort of) new putter in the bag at Royal Birkdale this week, with one key change in particular.

Matt Fitzpatrick doesn't make changes to his bag all that often, so it caught us a little by surprise when his putter supplier, Bettinardi, announced that the world number three was putting a new flatstick into play – ahead of The Open.
As it turns out, the change isn't all that drastic. Fitzpatrick will be using the same DASS BB1 Flow Fitz proto he has done for years, however it will come in a brand new finish and with a few subtle tweaks aimed at helping him control the firm and fast greens at Royal Birkdale more effectively.
As outlined by reporters and confirmed by Bettinardi, the new putter has a unique honeycomb pattern milled into the sole. The idea is that the pattern, aided by a rough, gritted texture blasted on to the finish, will grip better on the grass of the links greens, preventing it sliding at setup.
This texture is also featured on the retail version of the DASS BB1 Flow Fitz, which was released in early May after a long period of anticipation.
Fitzpatrick put the new putter into play at the Genesis Scottish Open and saw immediate success with it, finishing 12th in Strokes Gained: Putting on the way to a T3 finish.
Fitzpatrick will tee off for his opening round at The Open tomorrow at 15:15 BST.
