Wilson Vizor

We test ten of the latest putters. Five blades take on five mallets but who comes out on top?

Wilson Vizor

Brand:
 Wilson
Putter: Vizor
Design: Mallet
RRP: £119 Best price: £80
Loft: 3-degree Lie: 70-degree Head Weight: 370g

Summary: A consistent eye position results in more consistent putting, so the Wilson Staff Vizor has incorporated innovative I-Lock technology to lock the golfer into the perfect putting position.

Appearance: We thought the head was too chunky, like a brick, which isn’t what we wanted to be thinking of when looking down at the ball. However, it does have a nice matte black finish and reduces glare out in the sun. 6

Feel: Doesn’t provide a huge amount of feedback to the user and feels dead at times. With little response from the face, it’s incredibly difficult to judge distance. 6.5

Performance: We found it difficult to get the ball rolling and had a few skid off the face. The alignment bar is thick which we found hard to use. The putter is head heavy and we felt it was hard to control the 10 and 20-footers. The Lock & Roll technology was a nice, new touch to putting, but we found we had to push our hands forward to eliminate the red lines and that wasn’t ideal. 7

Verdict: We didn’t particularly like this effort from a brand we’re usually favoured towards due to their value for money ethos. Unattractive with minimal feel and consequently, it didn’t score too well. 19.5
