Patrick Reed's caddie has been thrown out of the Presidents Cup after he "shoved" a golf fan who reportedly verbally abused his player.

Reed has been heckled for much of the week by Australian fans at Royal Melbourne following his penalty for improving his lie in a waste bunker at last week's Hero World Challenge.

Many golf fans, players and pundits consider Reed knew exactly what he was doing and that it was "cheating".

Following his altercation with a spectator on Saturday afternoon, Reed's bagman and brother-in-law Kessler Karain will now sit out the final day of singles matches where the Internationals take a slender 10-8 into Sunday.

A video has emerged of Karain being led away by security on a golf cart...

"I don't think there's one caddie I know who would blame me," said Karain.

"I got off the cart and shoved him, said a couple things, probably a few expletives. Security came and I got back on the cart and left.

"Unless his bones breaks like Mr Glass, the most harm done was a little spilled beer, which I'm happy to reimburse him for."

He added: "As a caddie, one of your jobs is to protect your player.

"We have been known for having fun with some good banter, but after hearing several fans in Australia for three days some had taken it too far. I'd had enough. And this gentleman was one of them."

Reed said: "I respect the Tour's decision. We are all focused on winning the Presidents Cup."

Ernie Els' International side will take a 10-8 lead into Sunday's singles matches where they need just 5.5 points to win just their second ever Presidents Cup.

Despite all the heckling that Reed has received this week, Els admits the fans have been much better behaved than the time the Internationals faced United States in New York...
