Joel Dahmen joins the party!

Popular PGA Tour figure Joel Dahmen was a late starter in today's second round, but he has started brightly with a birdie on the 1st hole.

The 34-year-old joins Callum Tarren on 4-under as an unlikely leading duo in the US Open.

Dahmen won the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship in 2021, his only PGA Tour victory to date...

Defending champion Rahm makes an eagle!

Boom! Former World No.1 Jon Rahm rolls in a superb eagle putt on the 14th hole (his fifth) to reach 3-under-par.

The defending US Open champion bounced back after making a bogey on the previous hole, arrowing a superb approach from the fairway.

The Spaniard is just one shot behind Callum Tarren...

McIlroy recovers from DISASTER on 3rd hole!

Rory McIlroy had a nightmare on the 3rd hole in the second round of the US Open!

After finding the middle of the fairway on the 496-yard par-4, the 33-year-old pushed his approach to the right of the green in thick rough.

He hacked his next two shots and his ball didn't leave the long grass. He found the green with his fifth shot and he rolled in an amazing recovery putt for a double-bogey.

He somehow left the putting surface smiling...

Phil Mickelson finishes on +11

Phil Mickelson's bleak attempt to complete his major grand slam finished on Friday after carding a 73.

Having already shot a 78 on day one of the US Open, Lefty finished on 11-over-par and is set to miss the cut by some way.

The 52-year-old's concentration seemed to fade at certain points this week in Brookline with turbulence in his personal life and his LIV Golf exploits acting as likely distractions...

Rory McIlroy is underway on day two!

Rory McIlroy has teed off for his second round of the 2022 US Open!

Playing with Hideki Matsuyama and Xander Schauffele, the former US Open champion is looking to build on his first-round score of 67.

When he teed off, he was one shot behind leader Callum Tarren and level with World No.1 Scottie Scheffler...

18:21
Callum Tarren is the solo leader!

With a birdie on the 3rd hole, Callum Tarren is out in front on his own in the second round of the US Open!

The Englishman reached 4-under-par and took the lead over a sizeable pack of players on 3-under, including Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.

Tarren secured his PGA Tour card for the first time this year after finishing 15th in the Korn Ferry Tour Final 25 in 2021.

18:01
Scheffler is the leader in the clubhouse!

Could it be another magical week for Scottie Scheffler? It is certainly looking that way in Brookline.

The World No.1 shot a superb 67 having made two early bogeys on Friday to reach 3-under-par.

He and Nick Hardy are the two players to lead having completed 36 holes, with Rory McIlroy, David Lingmerth, Callum Tarren and Joel Dahmen yet to complete their second rounds...

17:46
Burns one shot behind at halfway stage!

Sam Burns carded a solid score of 67 on Friday to sit on 2-under for the week, one shot behind the leading pack.

Burns has won three times this season and he could be set for another tussle with his good friend Scottie Scheffler in Brookline.

Burns beat the World No.1 in a playoff at the Charles Schwab Challenge in May...

Nick Hardy cards a 68 to join the lead

Nick Hardy posts a very solid round of 68 to move into a tie for the lead.

Hardy is ranked 371st in the Official World Golf Rankings to give you some idea how unexpected his rise to the top of the leaderboard has been today.

17:12
Sam Burns keeping pace

Sam Burns is looking in great shape here.

That's a birdie at 17 for the in-form American and he's now up to 2-under par for the tournament.

Just like his good pal Scheffler, Burns is 3-under par for the round.

17:10
Scheffler joins the leaders

World No.1 and Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is on some move here.

That's another birdie for the American and he's up to 3-under par thru 16 holes.

It's looking ominous for the rest of the field.

Daffue blows up on 18

MJ Daffue has unfortunately blown up with a double-bogey at 18.

Daffue knived his bunker shot over the back of the green and then took three more to get down for a six.

The South African vaulted into a three-shot lead on 6-under par on the front nine but he has had a complete nightmare on the back nine and is now 1-under par.

16:58
Brooks misses a three footer at 15

So much for Brooks making a move.

He just misses a tiddler for par at 15 to fall back to level par.

16:52
Here's the Brooks eagle at 14

Moment of magic from Brooks Koepka.

16:47
Brooks Koepka is FLYING up the board!

Two-time US Open champion Brooks Koepka is flying up the board.

Koepka, who went back to back at the US Open in 2017 and 2018, has just rolled in two birdes and an eagle on his last four holes to move to 4-under par for the round.

The four-time major champion is now just two shots off the pace.

16:42
Scheffler makes his big move!

World No.1 Scottie Scheffler has just made a huge move up the board by going birdie-eagle on 13 and 14.

Back to back bogeys for Fitzpatrick

Pars feel like birdies out here at the moment!

England's Matt Fitzpatrick has just made two bogeys in a row to fall out of second place and two shots off the pace on 1-under par.

Still, anything under par come the end of the day will be in fantastic position going into the weekend.

16:17
Mini crisis for Daffue

The wheels are slowly coming off for Daffue as he makes another bogey on the 15th.

Daffue found the bunker with his approach shot but failed to get up and down.

The South African now finds himself in a tie for the lead on 3-under par with four players who have yet to tee off yet, including Rory McIlroy.

It's getting real tough out here folks!

16:01
Daffue just leads by one!

MJ Daffue makes his third bogey of the day, missing a short putt on the 14th hole to fall back to 4-under-par.

The South African still has a one-shot lead over the likes of Matt Fitzpatrick on the golf course, and Rory McIlroy who is yet to tee off.

Daffue, who only joined the Korn Ferry Tour in 2022, did have a three-shot lead earlier in the day...

Bland to make a charge on Friday?!

Richard Bland is making a sneaking run up the leaderboard, making his second birdie of the day at the 616-yard par-5 14th hole.

The Englishman has moved to 1-under for the week at Brookline and he is just four shots behind MJ Daffue in this second round.

Incredibly, Bland co-led the 2021 US Open at Torrey Pines after 36 holes, but he ended up in tied 50th.

15:05
Do you agree with G-Mac?

LIV Golf rebel Graeme McDowell has taken issue with the long fescue that lines the edge of the bunkers at The Country Club this week...

The 2010 US Open winner is not in the field this week, but while watching at home, he believes there is "too much randomness" with the layout of the traps...

What do you think?

15:01
How did Hovland's ball finish there?!

Viktor Hovland hit his second shot on the 18th hole (his ninth) into the greenside bunker and got one of the worst lies you will ever see!

The young Norwegian's ball was plugged into the top of the sandy slope and he managed to shovel it out to the front of the green.

He is looking at back-to-back bogeys to move back to level-par in Brookline...

How did Hovland's ball finish there?!
