U.S. Amateur 2026: Latest Scores and Tee Times as Round of 16 lineup is set at Merion
The latest U.S. Amateur scores and tee times from Merion Golf Club as just 16 players remain in the hunt for the Havemeyer Trophy.
The field at Merion Golf Club has been whittled down to the final 16 as the battle for the coveted Havemeyer Trophy reaches the business end of the 2026 U.S. Amateur.
After two days of stroke play and Wednesday's opening two match-play rounds, only 16 players remain in contention for amateur golf's biggest prize.
The U.S. Amateur has a storied history, with past champions including Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods. Jones remains the record holder with five victories, while Woods famously won three consecutive titles from 1994 to 1996.
Victory this week comes without a cash prize, but the rewards are enormous. The 2026 champion will earn an automatic invitation to the 2027 Masters at Augusta National, alongside exemptions into several other major championships and prestigious events.
There were a few notable casualties before match play got underway. Defending champion Mason Howell failed to make the cut after finishing 5-over par in stroke play, which was three shots outside the playoff mark.
Luke Poulter, son of former Ryder Cup star Ian Poulter, also saw his hopes ended in the playoff.
England's Jack Whaley is the only Brit left in the Round of 16.
Scotland's Niall Shiels Donegan reached the last 32 but was beaten 3&2 by seventh seed Jack Turner, who now faces Joshua Bai for a place in the quarter-finals.
One of the week's pre-tournament favourites, Miles Russell, was another early casualty, losing to Ryder Cowan in the Round of 64. Cowan continued his impressive run by defeating Justin Matthews 2&1 to reach the last 16.
Noah Maclauchlan, who defeated Russell to win the U.S. Junior Amateur last month, crashed out in the stroke-play stage at 6-over par.

With just four match-play wins separating 16 players from the Havemeyer Trophy, the pressure is now firmly on.
Several high seeds have already departed, while a number of lower-seeded players continue to upset the odds at Merion.
Whaley will carry British hopes into the last 16, while Cowan will look to continue his impressive run after knocking out Russell and Matthews.
