FootJoy, the market leaders in golf shoes, plans to launch its new designer collection in April with a men’s range from £75 a pair. The fashionable, lightweight collection (sizes from 7-11) will sit alongside the more traditional look of the Classics and DryJoys and the technology packed GelFusion and XDimension ranges. Says FootJoy’s European marketing director John Peal: "The Italian influence brings the look of the streets of Milan to the fairways in three striking new styles." As well as ‘Monticello’ interior last for a comfortable fit the shoes are packed with features including a temperature responsive membrane for waterproof protection and breathability, lightweight outsole and EVA midsole. "We feel there’s a need to address the younger, trendier audience and with the usual FootJoy hallmarks of quality and comfort, these will prove popular with the fashion conscious golfer." FootJoy has also developed the GelFusion shoe range featuring advanced waterproof technology and modern styling moulded to match the shape of the ankle and providing additional comfort, cooling and support The shoes have been tested with leading Tour players during development, as far back as The Open Championship last year, and have received positive feedback from the likes of Vijay Singh and Davis Love III, who wore GelFusion during their recent PGA Tour victories. The new range comes in three styles and is available next month retailing at £140 a pair.
Meanwhile Hi-Tec Golf is introducing the Hi-Tec Broadside (£54.99) built around a wide, athletic last for a generous and supportive fit, and the MM500 (£49.99) in scuff-resistant leather.
