AFTER weeks of being in contention to claim his first PGA Tour title of the season, Matt Kuchar holed a greenside bunker shot at the 72nd hole to win the RBC Heritage.

Following top-five finishes in each of the last three tournaments prior to the Harbour Town event, Kuchar posted rounds of 66, 73 and 70 before racing through the pack with a final-round 64 to deny Luke Donald by one shot on 11-under.

The seven-time PGA Tour champion, who has now recorded 10 top-10s this season, looked to have squandered his chances with a three-putt bogey from 4-feet at the 17th to fall back into a tie with the Englishman, but he recovered manfully by holing a 30-yard bunker shot at the 18th to bring the house down.
