Cheltenham Golf Day makes a comeback after successful inaugural event

Fairway to Furlong returns to Celtic Manor

Following the success of the Cheltenham Festival Golf Day, Fairway to Furlong is returning to the Celtic Manor Resort in 2012 to once more give golfers the perfect start to one of the biggest weeks of the horseracing year.

Guests can enjoy a round at the 2010 Ryder Cup venue, a gala dinner with a panel of expert tipsters, 5* overnight accommodation and tickets to the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival.

The event takes place on Monday March 12, the day before the Cheltenham Festival begins, and after breakfast all competitors will receive their complimentary buggies and Callaway goody bags with some great prizes up for grabs across all three courses.

Last time, more than 200 golfers took to Celtic Manor’s fairways for the inaugural event with competitions taking place on the Twenty Ten, Montgomerie and Roman Road courses, before even more race fans joined the evening’s festivities.

Channel 4 Racing’s Derek Thompson, ex-jockey Graham Bradley and the former chief executive of the Professional Jockeys Association, Josh Apiafi, formed the panel of horseracing pundits who guided guests through the coming week’s races, and expert advice will once more be up for grabs alongside a three-course meal, live music and entertainment and a charity auction in aid of Cancer Research UK and Help for Heroes.

Those staying overnight will receive a Cheltenham Guinness breakfast on Tuesday morning, before transferring to the race course’s Club Enclosure to enjoy the day’s racing.

Packages to play golf on the Montgomerie or Roman Road courses and attend the gala dinner cost £996 for a team of four, while those looking for the Ryder Cup experience on the Twenty Ten course and tickets for the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival can enjoy all that for £2,000 per team.

All packages include an overnight stay at Celtic Manor
