Golf 'in a box' from Fazer

Men’s Fazer contender set

Golf technology can be utterly confusing to the newcomer to the game. Many soldier on with unsuitable second hand equipment or even buy new gear totally blind to the pitfalls.

Fazer, one of the long-established names in budget golf equipment for the golfing virgin, have tackled the problem by introducing an improved range of men’s and women’s boxed starter sets, which include easy-to-hit woods and irons, as well as a bag and a putter.

The Men's Contender Plus set is available in both right and left-handed models and features ‘titanium enhanced’, Synchroflex graphite-shafted driver plus 3- and 5-woods. All have confidence-inspiring large heads.

The package also includes a choice of eight steel or graphite-shafted irons (4-iron to sand wedge), perimeter-weighted with a low centre of gravity to promote forgiveness and higher initial ball flight.

And for £180 (steel shafts), you also get a heel-toe weighted putter, Fazer stand bag and fur-lined headcovers for the woods and putter.

Only difference in the Ladies Contender set (£200) is that it includes seven graphite-shafted irons (excluding the 4-iron) and a trolley bag.
