Former Open champion Henrik Stenson was among the six full-time LIV Golf players that were relegated from the PIF-backed breakaway.

Stenson went into the final event of the regular season in Indianapolis in the dreaded drop zone.

His Majesticks teammates and co-captains, Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter, were also in danger of being relegated.

But it is the Swede who will now have to look for playing opportunities elsewhere, after his T22 finish was not enough to finish above 49th in the individual standings.

Poulter and Westwood managed to escape the drop with a flurry of birdies on Sunday to climb the leaderboard and secure the valuable points they needed to lift themselves out of the relegation zone.

Stenson, who was stripped of the European Ryder Cup captaincy in 2022 when he joined LIV, was previously exempt from relegation.

Captains were offered a reprieve from the boot during the first three seasons of LIV, but the Saudi-backed circuit announced the controversial rule would no longer be in place going forward.

It is widely assumed the move is part of LIV's attempt to secure Official World Golf Ranking accreditation.

Which other LIV Golf players were relegated?

Anthony Kim

Kim was once a promising talent on the PGA Tour and even played a starring role for Team USA at the 2008 Ryder Cup, dismantling Sergio Garcia in the Sunday singles.

He disappeared from the sport without a trace in 2012, but made a shock return to the sport in 2024 by signing a two-year deal with LIV.

Kim - who played as a wildcard - failed to register a single point all season.

Is it safe to say the Anthony Kim experiment - widely seen as a PR move - failed miserably?

Mito Pereira

Pereira showed promise on the PGA Tour and had it not been for a disastrous tee shot on the 72nd hole of the 2022 PGA Championship would be a major winner.

He had a challenging season, to say the least, and only secured five points.

Andy Ogletree

The 2019 U.S. Amateur champion was among the first wave of players to be recruited by LIV in 2022 and finished dead last in their inaugural event.

He fought his way back to the circuit via the International Series' order of merit in 2024, but has struggled considerably this season.

Phil Mickelson will have a new member of the HyFlyers.

Yubin Jang

The South Korean was touted as a huge prospect by his team captain, Kevin Na, at the beginning of the year. But he has been woeful.

Fredrik Kjettrup

Signed by the Cleeks' Martin Kaymer, the young Dane was also touted as a golfer with a big future. The fact he has failed to register a single point all season would suggest otherwise.
