Lake McQuarrie Championships

The Welsh Golfing Union have selected Craig Williams (Creigiau) and Kyron Sullivan (Brynhill) to represent Wales at the Lake Macquarie Amateur Championship from 25th to 29th January 2001. Williams will be competing in the event for the second time, while Sullivan will be making his debut

Both players will be eager to have a good start to 2001 as they both chase a coveted place in the Great Britain and Ireland team that will face the USA in the Walker Cup in August. Sullivan’s selection comes after a series of good end season performances, 12th in the European Individual Amateur Championship and five points from six matches at the Home Internationals at Carnoustie.

During 2000 season Williams played consistently finishing 3rd at the St Andrews Links Trophy and 10th at the Brabazon Trophy. This event provides Wales with another opportunity to shine on a world stage.
