Monty and Woods skip Scandinavia

World number One Tiger Woods and European Number One Colin Montgomerie will not return to Scandinavia this summer for the SAS Invitational Match Play.
In a friendly matchplay competition last year between the Nordic countries best players and the rest of the World, the match finished all-square last year when Woods beat Dane Thomas Bjorn with a last hole eagle to level the scores at 6-6.

This year, Mark O’Meara will again captain the international team made up of Sergio Garcia, Greg Norman, Carlos Franco, Retief Goosen and last year’s British Open champion Paul Lawrie.

Norman, whose mother’s family is from Finland, will play Anssi Kankkonen of Finland in Helsinki during opening-day matches just after The Open Championship on July 24. Norman last played in northern Europe in 1980, when he won a PGA European Tour event in southern Sweden.

Parnevik will face his Ryder Cup team-mate Garcia in Stockholm and other matches will be played simultaneously July 24 in Copenhagen and Oslo. The final matches will be played July 25 in the Norwegian capital, Oslo.
