Jordan Spieth hits incredible downhill chip shot to inches at WGC
Jordan Spieth nearly holes his deft chip off a tricky downhill lie on day two of the WGC-HSBC Champions...
There are short games, and then is Jordan Spieth's short game.
Spieth might be all-but out the running for this week's WGC-HSBC Champions in China as he looks on 10 strokes off the pace on 1-under par, but he did play one of the shots of the day in round two at Sheshan International Golf Club.

tThe three-time major champion hit a solid tee shot just left of the green at the driveable par-4 16th, but he left himself a tricky downhill lie in the rough just next to the bunker.
With sticky rye grass to contend with, and water behind the flag, Spieth played the most miraculous chip shot into the bank and ran his ball up to within inches of the pin for a tap-in birdie-three.

Rory McIlroy also overcame a tough situation on the 16th in round two.
After losing his tee shot in the trees way left, and sending his club flying in the process, McIlroy re-teed his ball and hit down the middle before getting up-and-down for an impressive bogey save.

McIlroy then took momentum into the final hole and fired a stunning long iron to within two feet of the pin for a closing eagle to reach 10-under par. The Ulsterman lies just one stroke behind Matt Fitzpatrick, a player still searching for his first win of the season despite several runner-up finishes in 2019.
Adam Scott, Sungjae Im and defending champion Xander Schauffele lie two strokes off the lead on 9-under par.
