Kinhult, 22, sunk a 10-foot birdie putt at the final hole to seal a one-stroke victory over English duo Matt Wallace and Eddie Pepperell, and Scotland's Robert MacIntyre.

The Swede birdied the final two holes to claim the title, while Wallace could only look on after missing golden opportunities for birdie from four-feet at 17 and 15-feet at the last.

Local host Tommy Fleetwood finished tied 10th after a final-round 73.

"I'm speechless. I don't know what happened the last two hours," said Kinhult, who receives a first prize of £500,000.

"I was behind and Matt looked really solid but I just managed to make those two birdies.

"There's a lot going through your mind and emotions but I'm just so happy to handle those pretty well. This game is so weird, it's small margins.

"I've been waiting for this moment for 20 years."
