The news first emerged on GolfWRX earlier today when Spieth's long-time caddie Michael Greller was pictured holding up sleeve of new Titleist Pro V1x balls to the camera to emphasise what his boss was using on the PGA Tour.

Spieth makes his return to the circuit this week following an impressive run of results that includes six top-10 finishes in his last eight starts, highlighted by a return to the winner's circle for the first time since the 2017 Open with victory at the Valero Texas Open in early April.

Some golf fans may be shocked at the timing of his Titleist golf ball switch, especially given his resurgence on the PGA Tour in 2021.

The three-time major champion was due to play in the Valspar Championship two weeks ago but the American has revealed he was forced out of action in recent weeks as a result of having to self isolate from friends and family due to three positive Covid tests.

Spieth, however, insists he is now feeling fit and healthy enough to compete on the PGA Tour just a week efore he goes in search of landing the career grand slam at the US PGA Championship at Kiawah Island.

The 12-time PGA Tour winner won The Masters and US Open back in 2015, and then picked up The Open in 2017.

Spieth is one of the favourites to win the AT&T Byron Nelson this week alongside Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm.
