Jordan Spieth was just brutally reminded about his 2016 Masters nightmare

We have seen many downs during the career of PGA Tour superstar Jordan Spieth, but his collapse at the 2016 Masters stands alone.

Spieth was in all likelihood dreaming of slipping on the green jacket at Augusta National after a wonderful start that Sunday.

On the front nine, Spieth made the turn with four consecutive birdies. He was in the groove. He had a five-stroke lead over the field.

If he won, he was going to become the youngest player in the Masters era to have claimed three majors and become the game's first back-to-back wire-to-wire winner.

He was so close to claiming his second Masters in three appearances. And all at the age of 22. Nothing but a babe in arms.

To put that into context, it took Tiger Woods (who recently dropped to a career-low world ranking) seven attempts to claim two green jackets.

But then it happened. Spieth fell to pieces. He lost and lost in a truly staggering way.

If you're reading this as a Spieth fan then you will probably not need reminding what happened.

Spieth self-destructed at the famously difficult par-3 12th. The indecisiveness just appears to take hold of you.

Just ask Cameron Smith. Or Tiger.

Spieth's first effort hit the bank and rolled back into the water. Then he chunked his drop straight back in again before sending his fifth into the bunker.

That devastating quadruple-bogey likely still haunts him.

Spieth, who had to slip the green jacket onto Danny Willett that year after his implosion, was reminded of this moment this week.
