Collin Morikawa has revealed he will keep the contents of a note secret after he was presented with a gift by a starstruck young fan at the CJ Cup on the PGA Tour

Morikawa was left a little bit stunned earlier in the week at Congaree Golf Club in South Carolina when a young fan, named Zella, gave him a headcover.

Initially, Morikawa refused to accept the gift and insisted he sign it and hand it back to her but she wouldn't budge.

Five-time PGA Tour winner Morikawa decided to go and grab a glove and sign it for her, but not before she signed the headcover for him.

It was not the only adorable moment of the week as former World No.1 and 2021 U.S. Open champion Jon Rahm also met a special fan.

As it transpired, Morikawa was blissfully unaware that Zella had left him a note inside the headcover.

It was only when he saw the video back later that he rushed to see what it said.

He told the official PGA Tour social media channels: "Hey Zella, I'm pretty sure I was like laying in bed and I was going through my phone and saw the Tour had posted the video of you giving me the headcover.

"Sooner or later, you know, about 40 seconds down that video you say there there's a little note and immediately I got out of my bed straight to the headcover, found it.

"I'll keep the note between you and me. I just want to say thank you so much. It meant a lot. Obviously, it just keeps a smile on my face. [I am] hoping to see you out here maybe tomorrow.

"If not, all the best and good luck. I heard you're a baller in the golf world."

Morikawa found himself seven strokes back of leader Rory McIlroy after three rounds at the CJ Cup.

Both players went toe-to-toe at this event last season, although that tournament was held in Las Vegas at The Summit Club.

Morikawa, who concerned his fellow players with how he eats his cereal earlier in the season, is coming off a largely frustrating 2021-2022 campaign.

He finished T-45 last week at the ZOZO Championship in Japan. Morikawa is currently No. 9 in the Official World Golf Ranking having previously been as high as number two.
