Jon Rahm: "I won't be speaking of it too much"

Jon Rahm is still very much revelling in his Masters success as he bids to defend the Mexico Open.

Jon Rahm:

Jon Rahm refused to divulge the details of his Masters celebrations as he revealed he has reassessed his goals for 2023 after talking to his mental coach.

Rahm is the big favourite and defending champion of this week's PGA Tour event, the Mexico Open, at the Greg Norman-designed Vidanta

His victory here last year followed an epic run in which the Spaniard, now 28, rose to the World No.1 position and claimed his maiden major at the U.S. Open.

Rahm, as you know, is now a two-time major champ having slipped on the green jacket at Augusta National despite starting his week in Georgia with a four-putt.

He landed in Mexico as the World No. 1 again and, unsurprisingly, is leading the FedEx Cup.

Attention! There is still time to play the FREE GolfMagic Fantasy game in association with Callaway.

There are amazing prizes.

This week's GolfMagic Fantasy winner will land an Odyssey Golf putter of their choice (excluding the Toulon Garage range), and remember, our ongoing season-long race will see our winner receive a full Callaway Golf custom fitting at a Callaway Fitting Centre.

Jon Rahm:

Rahm did play in the week immediately after winning at Augusta as he had made a commitment to the designated RBC Heritage, which Matthew Fitzpatrick won in extra holes over Jordan Spieth

But it appears Rahmbo is still a bit tired. "You know, I wish I could say one week off was enough," he said.

He added:

"It was a long Masters and then went right away to RBC, so it wasn't -- I wish I could have rested a little more, but it is the life we signed up for. I probably didn't help, I celebrated the Masters win on Tuesday, that delayed the recovery a little bit.
"But it's always good to be home and to be able to come to a place like this. This in itself, even though there's competition, you're in such a relaxing spot, great resort, great amenities, great food, great people, great weather. There's a lot worse places to be than this one. I'm glad to be back and I'm glad to be in good form this year."

And what did those celebrations look like?

"I think you can -- I think everybody can imagine what it was like. I won't be speaking of it too much."

Rahm told the media one of his goals for 2023 was to win multiple times.

He won the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii and immediately followed that with victory at The American Express (a venue where he famously raged at the conditions).

Now?

"After L.A. I kind of had to -- you kind of need to reset because I was getting close to accomplishing everything I had set my mind to. I like being able to -- if you have to reset or refresh your goals, it's an amazing thing because that means you're exceeding your expectations.
"So I did have a day with my mental coach where we talked about things and reassessed and refocused on what we wanted to accomplish in the year. Yeah, I had to do it, which again, it's a wonderful thing to do."
