Pat Perez comments re-shared after LIV pro aims swipe at PGA Tour: "END QUOTE!"

LIV Golf League player Pat Perez was described as waking up and 'choosing violence' with his latest dig at the PGA Tour

Perez is in Mexico with the 4 Aces GC ahead of the second LIV Golf League campaign, which boasts prize money of $405m across 14 events in 2023.

In case you didn't know, LIV are playing their first event at the Greg Norman designed El Camaleon course at Mayakoba.

For the last 16 years the course has played host to the PGA Tour's World Wide Technology Championship in the fall swing until LIV swooped.

Perez's response to being here this week?

"I love it because we're here and the tour is not. End quote."

Brutal.

Golf's Claire Rogers decided to pick up on this moment, showing how Perez has changed his tune considerably in the last 12 months.

Perez spoke about LIV Golf - at the time it was referred to as the SGL - before the first shot in LIV was struck and before he bolted.

He said:

"I think the SGL is going to get some players, but they are going to be very disappointed in who they get.
"They are going to get some older players like my age that are looking for a cheque that don't really care about playing the tour anymore.
"They're looking for a cheque going, 'You know what, give me my 30, 40 [million] or whatever the hell it is and I'll do what I need for you and that's it."

Perez also was quoted saying how Phil Mickelson could've gone about his decision to join LIV in a much different way.

He said:

"He could've done this in such a different way. He could've gone, 'You know what, I've made a fortune on the PGA Tour, god bless the PGA Tour for taking care of me and giving me place to play and this and that but I feel like I want to go down this other route to kind of close out my career. Thank you every body, it's been phenomenal, thank you Jay [Monahan, PGA Tour commissioner] and Tim [Finchem, former PGA Tour commissioner] but I want to go down this other route. Goodbye.'"

Comments on the clip included:

"He's loud and interesting I guess, I'll give him that."
"Wow."
"Irony, but louder."
"Anyone got pro wrestler vibes here?"
"His opening statement nails it. It just took a while for Pat to realise he was talking about himself."

Perez was originally named as a plaintiff in the antitrust lawsuit that was filed against the PGA Tour last August.

He subsequently dropped out, saying he didn't entirely think through his decision to be involved in the litigation.
