Patrick Cantlay receives our captain's armband on GolfMagic Fantasy this week as the American goes in search of a third Memorial title since 2019.

Cantlay, 31, has been a frustrating player to follow on the PGA Tour this season.

Not just because of his lethargic pace of play but more due to recording six top-10 finishes without a win.

However, we believe that all changes this week as eight-time PGA Tour winner Cantlay returns to one of his favourite courses on the rota, Muirfield Village.

Cantlay won his first Memorial Tournament in 2019 by two strokes over Adam Scott, but he was rather fortunate to win his second in 2021 when Jon Rahm raced clear after 54 holes only to be forced out due to a positive Covid test.

The World No.4 took full advantage that week and went on to win in a playoff over Collin Morikawa.

He's an easy Pot 1 pick for us on GolfMagic Fantasy this week where our top points scorer will win a pair of Callaway Golf shoes, cap and glove

If you need a bit of help with your five-man team for the Memorial Tournament, GolfMagic's Editor Andy Roberts has revealed his team below.

Our Editor Andy is taking two players from Pot 1, one from Pot 2, one from Pot 3 and one from Pot 4:

Pot 1: Patrick Cantlay (c), Jon Rahm

Cantlay, as we've already touched upon above, has an enviable record here at the Memorial Tournament.

He's played in this tournament six times and his record stands at: 35, 4, 1, 32, 1, 3.

Cantlay also owns the lowest stroke average at Muirfield Village over the last 24 rounds here at 69.96.

That's impressive.

Cantlay has also notched six top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour this season, and let's be honest, he is due a win, which last came at the BMW Championship at the back end of last season.

Our second Pot 1 pick is World No.2 Rahm, who will be looking for redemption here having been forced to withdraw after holding a commanding lead here after 54 holes in 2021.

Rahm also won this tournament in 2020, so he absolutely loves the place. Like Cantlay, his scoring average stands out at 70.08 over his 13 rounds here.

Cantlay and Rahm look very safe Pot 1 plays this week.

We did give consideration to World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, but his putting has become far too infuriating to watch. If Scheffler heads to Jack's place with a warmer putter then he will more than likely prove the man the beat... but that is a big if right now.

Pot 2: Collin Morikawa

Morikawa looks a prudent Pot 2 play this week. Like Scheffler, he ranks well down the board for putting on the PGA Tour this season, which has held him back from the winners' circle.

But we cannot get away from Morikawa's record around Muirfield Village, especially when you throw in the Workday Charity Open that was also staged here during the Covid lockdown, which he won in a playoff over Justin Thomas.

Morikawa also finished runner-up here when losing in a playoff to Cantlay in 2021.

Like Cantlay, we feel Morikawa is due a win, which last came on the PGA Tour at the 2021 Open Championship.

The American's impressive ball striking is a perfect fit for Muirfield Village and if he can just warm up the putter a little more then he will be right up there come Sunday afternoon.

Pot 3: Adam Scott

Adam Scott may be the other side of 40 these days but he is arguably playing some of the most solid golf of his career on the PGA Tour.

Scott could have easily been forgiven for jumping ship to LIV Golf with his fellow Aussies this season, but he knows he can still compete with the big boys on the PGA Tour.

Two recent top-10 finishes at the Wells Fargo and Byron Nelson give us reason to believe Scott can go well again this week.

He also loves Muirfield Village having notched a second place in 2019 and a fourth in 2014.

Pot 4: Adam Schenk

Another Adam that interests us this week is Schenk, who picked up his second runner-up finish of the PGA Tour season when losing out to Emiliano Grillo in a playoff at the Charles Schwab Challenge on Sunday.

Schenk hasn't been the most consistent player of late, but when his game is on it's really on.

As far as outside Pot 4 picks go on GolfMagic Fantasy, we're more than happy to strike when the iron is hot for Schenk.

We certainly would not be surprised to see Schenk break his maiden tag before the end of the season.
