PGA Tour pro Tom Kim turned heads with a bold outfit choice during the first round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Memphis.

PGA Tour pro triggers golf fans with 'ridiculous' trousers:

Tom Kim turned heads during the first round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship on the PGA Tour.

Kim is competing in the first leg of the playoffs and opted for a striking pair of trousers for the first 18 holes at TPC Memphis.

There was nothing bold about the choice of colour. There was, however, something to be said about their length.

Perhaps Kim will defend them vehemently, given that he went low in the opening round and was amongst the early leaders.

That said, Golf ~~Twitter~~ X was absolutely against them.

Kim defended his choice in the immediate aftermath of his first round, explaining:

"I don't know, man. It's like, I think a lot of people are actually having fun out of it, way more than I thought. It was just, I didn't want to get myself dirty. Just don't like it. I've had a really bad week once this year, so just trying to stay away from it really.

"It was just kind of how I did it back in the old days. I didn't have unlimited pants, so I had to make sure I was able to use those pants for a really long time, so I had to make sure they stayed really clean.

"A lot of people seemed to have a lot of laughs on it, but I just thought it was pretty convenient. I chose the wrong colour, obviously, for the day, but my caddie Joe actually said he doesn't really care what I do as long as I make birdies and eagles, so it kind of worked."
