Scottie Scheffler is arguably the best player on the planet right now, but there are a number of reasons behind his success.
Just one of those is the support of his loving wife, Meredith Scudder, who has been by his side since he made his PGA Tour debut.
How did they meet?
Scottie and Meredith grew up in Texas. They met at Highland Park High School, but it was not until they crossed paths in college that they started dating.
Interestingly, Scottie, now 28, was attending the University of Texas, while Meredith was studying two hours' away at the rival Texas A&M.
They maintained a long-distance relationship, and Scottie regularly visited his girlfriend on campus. They both graduated in 2018.
Scottie turned pro in 2018 after a wildly successful amateur career during which he caught the eye of golf legends like Jack Nicklaus and Lee Trevino.
When did they get engaged?
He proposed to Meredith, who is the same age as her husband, at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in June 2020 while on a hiking trip.
At the time, they had been dating for six years. Meredith joyfully shared news of the proposal on her Instagram.
"I can't believe God gave me my best friend to spend the rest of my life with," she wrote.
Wedding day
Scottie and Meredith officially said "I do" on 4 December 2020 in Dallas, Texas.
The ceremony took place at Park Cities Presbyterian Church, followed by a winter wonderland-themed reception at Arlington Hall.
Guests were given red Santa hats to embrace the festive spirit.
Meredith's influence on Scottie's career
Meredith has been a huge supporter of Scottie's career and was on site for all of his triumphs, apart from the 2024 Masters, as she was heavily pregnant with their first child.
She always carries his bag during the annual Masters Par 3 Contest and was waiting by the 18th green as Scottie won his first green jacket at Augusta National in 2022.
After his maiden major win, Scottie spoke of how he became so overwhelmed before the final round that he "cried like a baby" in Meredith's arms.
He wasn't sure he was going to be able to handle the moment at Augusta.
"I was so stressed out," he said. "I didn't know what to do.
"I was sitting there telling Meredith, I don't think I'm ready for this. I'm not ready, I don't feel like I'm ready for this kind of stuff, and I just felt overwhelmed."
Meredith was heavily pregnant during the 2024 Masters tournament.
Scottie hit the headlines that week as he insisted that he would leave Augusta immediately if Meredith went into labour.
There was a plan in place in which Scottie's caddie, Ted Scott, would be notified on the course so the golfer could make a quick getaway.
Fortunately, baby Bennett was born a few weeks later.

Birth of their first child
Scottie and Meredith announced in late 2023 that they were going to become parents.
Meredith's due date coincided with the playing of the 2024 Masters at Augusta National.
Scottie took the 54-hole lead and claimed throughout the major that he would leave at a moment's notice to be by Meredith's side if she went into labour.
Fortunately for Scottie, he did not have to hot-foot it away from Augusta National, and he won his second green jacket.
On 8 May 2024, Meredith gave birth to their son, Bennett.
Their baby boy was born a week before the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.
Scottie cracked dad jokes upon his arrival after his appearance at the major had been in doubt.
Earlier that week, he shared an image of his son on social media.
He captioned the post: "Welcome to the world little one. Your mom & dad love you so much."
Anything else about the couple?
They are both Christians.
They are also both huge fans of The Office.
Scheffler and Meredith appeared in the first season of the Netflix documentary Full Swing.
