Footage has emerged of LIV Golf pro Thomas Pieters leaving the course to confront a heckler during the opening round of the breakaway tour's ninth stop of the season in Dallas.

Pieters played the first round of the $25m event at Maridoe Golf Club alongside the eventual winner Patrick Reed.

Reed, 34, was reportedly on the receiving end of some negative remarks from a member of the crowd on Friday.

It is unclear what was said but it was enough for the big Belgian, who reportedly joined LIV for $10m in 2024, to step in and remonstrate with the guilty party.

The 33-year-old ducked under the gallery rope and marched towards the grandstand before using his putter to illustrate his point further.

Reed then managed to hole his downhill right-to-left slider for par before turning back to stare down the spectator who berated him.

Patrick Reed finally earns first LIV Golf win

Reed went into the final round of LIV Dallas with a three-shot cushion at the top of the leaderboard.

He surrendered his lead with a poor front nine and, after 54 holes, was tied with former Open champion Louis Oosthuizen, former European Ryder Cup star Paul Casey and Japan's Jinichiro Kozuma.

Reed then managed to hold his nerve on the first playoff hole, holing a lengthy putt for birdie to secure his first LIV win in 41 starts.

The golfer later claimed he felt like he had taken far too long to step into the winner's circle on the PIF-backed breakaway.

He could even make a sensational return to the Ryder Cup in September should he put in another decent performance at next month's Open.

Reed finished in the top five at The Masters and the top 25 at the US Open. He missed the cut at the PGA Championship.

Sergio Garcia reacts to sealing Open spot

Sergio Garcia finished 25th at LIV Dallas but still managed to secure his spot into next month's Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

Garcia, 45, needed to remain in the top five of LIV's individual standings at the conclusion of last week's tournament to secure his ticket to Royal Portrush.

The only players that could've leapfrogged him - Sebastian Munoz and Lucas Herbert - did not do enough to threaten Garcia's position.

It means the former Masters champion will play in his first Open since 2022.

Garcia - who decided to skip Final Qualifying - told reporters he was delighted to finally make his return at golf's oldest major.
