Need To Know
TaylorMade has launched its new range for 2019 and treated us to not one, but two new drivers! One of these, the TaylorMade M6 driver 2019, is a beast.
Similarly to the M5, the new TaylorMade M6 driver for 2019 uses Speed Injected Twist Face technology, ensuring every single M6 clubhead is tuned the maximum level of legal speed.
What is immediately noticeable is the difference in clubhead size between the M5 and M6. The M6 is slightly larger and made with a full carbon crown.
A lot of people will find this a lot more comfortable to hit, as they prefer to see a larger head at address, providing more confidence for certain players.
Looking at the M6 driver, some of us preferred the design over the M5, due to its modern simplicity and appeal to hit. It's certainly a driver that stands out in our opinion, and the aerodynamic carbon crown gives it something aesthetically special.
Due to the aerodynamic shape and the new 'inertia generator', the majority of the clubhead weight is placed extremely low and back, providing maximum forgiveness and a low centre of gravity, producing a higher ball flight, perfect for players who are looking to add more flight to their driver game.
Combined with the Speed Injected technology, the M6 driver offers huge numbers for distance and trajectory.
It's not as adjustable as the M5, but it does have the loft sleeve where you can alter the degree of the club very easily.
This was actually extremely useful with the M6 when we tested it out at The Kingdom, as we found the standard loft to be just a little too high due to the low CG of the club, so to be able to tune the degree down slightly gave us a much better ball flight.
The TaylorMade M6 driver has an RRP of £449 and is available in 9°, 10.5° and 12° loft options, but what is exciting about the M6 is that it's also available in a D-Type, a draw-biased design for players who struggle with a natural slice.
