A video has surfaced on social media of a golf fan calling out Rory McIlroy while he was about to play a pitch shot from the deep rough during his Ryder Cup Sunday Singles match against Sam Burns.

RORY MCILROY CALLED OUT BY GOLF FAN AT RYDER CUP!

The golf fan in question, who was standing some 10 feet away from McIlroy behind the ropes, can be heard calling out "that ball moved... that ball just moved".

After hearing the fan behind him make such a comment, McIlroy turns round to briefly eyeball the spectator.

McIlroy then looks over to the left and walks over to his caddie Harry Diamond.

Another voice from the gallery then says "did it?" as another person stifles a laugh.

The video has gone viral on social media and has been shared by multiple accounts.

It would appear to have divided opinion, with some siding with the golf fan and others seeing absolutely nothing wrong with it.

What do you reckon? Watch the video:

It must be said that nothing came from this incident, and McIlroy went about his business without being penalised.

Had McIlroy caused his golf ball to move as a result of his wedge in the grass then he would have incurred a one-stroke penalty.

Here's all you need to know about the particular golf rule when determining whether a golf ball moved or not, and other rulings associated with that

McIlroy went on to win his Ryder Cup Singles match 3&1 over Sam Burns.

Another video from the Ryder Cup Sunday Singles, also involving an Irishman hitting a chip shot from the rough, has gone viral too over the past 24 hours.

That one was courtesy of Shane Lowry, who ripped into an on-course marshal during his match against Jordan Spieth.

Lowry was seen setting up to a tricky chip shot over a bunker from the rough.

The marshal standing nearby to Lowry then says to the crowd: "Stand still don't move please..."

A "shhhhhhh" then appears...

Lowry turns to the marshal and says: "You're making more f***ing noise than anyone else."

"Sorry," the marshal responds.

"Jesus," Lowry mutters under his breath before walking up to the green to compose himself for the shot in hand.

Lowry went on to tie his match with Spieth.

McIlroy top scored for the week with 4 points from a possible five, while Lowry earned 1.5 from three.

Luke Donald's Team Europe went on to defeat Zach Johnson's Team USA 16.5-11.5 at Marco Simone in Rome.

McIlroy told reporters during the victory celebrations that Europe will also win the Ryder Cup once again in two years' time when they travel over to Bethpage Black.
