Tommy Fleetwood shares 'unbelievable' swing tip you should be practising
For optimal hip rotation and control, says the world no. 3, all you need to do is "close the door".

The beginning of the downswing is often the trickiest part of the swing to master for many golfers.
This transition phase is all too often where things go wrong. After all, producing force while keeping your hips, shoulders and arms all working in harmony is incredibly tricky. It's something the pros practice endlessly, and for good reason.
As such, sometimes having a super simple swing thought to put into practice during your range sessions can be very handy. And while talking to Justin Rose as the two warmed up for their LA Golf Club TGL match against Atlanta Drive, FedEx Cup champion Tommy Fleetwood shared a small nugget of wisdom he picked up from famed teacher Butch Harman to address this very issue.
The tip is to do with hip rotation in the downswing, notably how to drive your leading hip back in order to generate more controlled rotation through the impact for optimum power.
"Butch gave me an unbelievable one the other day," Fleetwood enthuses to Rose. "He wants me to stay high in the setup, [right] hip back, close the door with my left hip, and then turn and go onto it."
"So like if there was a door behind your left hip, shut it and then go."

Fleetwood's LA Golf Club would go on to win their match 7-3, solidifying their spot in the SoFi Cup playoff positions for now with one game (vs New York Golf Club) left to play. The 2026 TGL semi-finals are scheduled to begin on March 17, with the first match of the finals series taking place on March 23.
